How do I really know if my hymen is broken?

umm..this is awkward :p umma a 17 yr old girl and I never had sex b4 ( I have never inserted anything either) but I was worried that I broke my hymen doin sports or anything so I checked online to c how I can check it myself (I did the mirror thing) but the problem is I don't even know what it looks like and how deep it is located. This worries me cuz in my culture if a girl loses her hymen they think she lost her virginity (and they will know cuz when a girl gets married they do the traditional thing where the HAVE TO c the blood). It's all a mess that's drivin me crazy. Please somebody gimme sum advice :((
